SUMMARY
Reflection
Organizing the clothing drive taught me the importance of planning, communication, and persistence in community work. I learned how to effectively promote a cause using both in-person and digital outreach, and how direct engagement such as personally picking up donations can help increase participation. This experience reinforced that even small, local actions can have a significant ripple effect in meeting community needs.
Project Impact
Collected and delivered more than 60 large bags of clothing to Note in the Pocket. Spent more than 15 hours on the project, collecting, using social media to advertise, and dropping all clothes to note in the pocket. Had more than 30 houses either have pick ups or drop offs clothing resulting in lots of clothing items being distributed to families in need.
PROJECTS TASKS

Page Week
10.00 hours participating in a community project | Connectedness
Served as a Page in the North Carolina Government, assisting with daily jobs, attending sessions, and learning about the functions of state government. Contributed to policy discussions, youth engagement efforts, and supported administrative staff in various departments.

Project Planning
6.00 hours leading a collection drive | Connectedness
For my Governor’s Page Program service project, I plan on organizing a clothing drive to support community members in need. I plan on using my network through social media, my friends and family, and my soccer team. I coordinated where I am going to donate, promoted the drive through local networks, and worked with Note in the Pocket to finalize the donations. There is no allocated budget as I am not needing to purchase anything, mostly just plan on picking 5-10 houses and having others drop it off. My allocated goal is 20-30 trash bags worth of clothing!

Publicity
2.00 hours leading a collection drive | Compassion
During this stage, I created a flyer using canva and posted it on social media platforms such as Nextdoor. I also used connections where people wanted to donate clothes that would go to the homeless and families in need.

Do the Project
15.00 hours leading a collection drive | Compassion
Organized a clothing drive benefiting Note in the Pocket, an organization that provides clothing to children in need. Created flyers and posters to promote donations within the community, coordinated drop-off locations, and personally collected and delivered the clothing to Note in the Pocket for sorting and distribution.

Project Outcomes & Reflection
1.00 hour leading a collection drive | Compassion
We received over 60 bags of clothing and had to make 3 trips to Note in the Pocket, located in Durham. This exceeded our target significantly, and we are very grateful to the community that made this possible. Using all these clothes, I know they will go to a bigger cause like giving clothes to poverty families and children.
