    SUMMARY
    Reflection
Volunteering at the Family Services domestic violence shelter opened my eyes to the battles that others in my community and in the world face, and I hope to continue volunteering with the organization in the future.
    Project Impact
I gathered 12 volunteers to work for the Family Services domestic violence shelter for 2 hours. We successfully performed organization for the shelter's donation area that supports victims with clothing, toys, hygienic products, and various other items.
    PROJECTS TASKS
    Page Week
10.00 hours participating in an awareness event | Connectedness
During the NC Governors Page week, we learned about civics, history, policy, and community service. We toured different government buildings, listened to presentations from government employees, and listened to a committee in the general assembly. We also met Governor Roy Cooper and proposed our own form of policy. I enjoyed this program as I learned many new things about the executive branch and community service. Erinn was a very engaged and friendly coordinator and worked hard to make sure we experienced the most possible while in Raleigh.
    Project Planning
4.00 hours leading an event | Connectedness
Organized two clubs (Students Demand Action and Girls Service Club) at Reagan High School to volunteer with the Winston-Salem family services. We will be organizing donations as well as cleaning.
    Publicity
    1.00 hour volunteering | Connectedness
Sent out information about the volunteer opportunity to clubs at my school.
    Do the Project
2.00 hours leading an initiative | Connectedness
Partnered with Reagan Girls Service Club (RGSC) to volunteer at the Winston-Salem, NC Family Services domestic violence shelter. We worked for two hours organizing hygiene and clothing items for domestic violence victims in the area.
    Project Outcomes & Reflection
    1.00 hour volunteering | Connectedness
I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to organize in my community for the Family Services shelter. In the future, I hope to continue volunteering with the shelter and mobilizing others to do the same. While volunteering, I learned of an opportunity to accompany domestic violence victims to court as a support, so I am hoping to do that over the summer.
