SUMMARY
Reflection
Through this experience, I learnt the value of organization and preparedness when planning a volunteering project. By using the resources I had at my disposal, such as the Scout troop that I was the leader of, I was able to get donations of resources and volunteer time to make the event possible.
Project Impact
We served dinner to around 70 people staying at the SECU Family House, with roughly 15 Scouts volunteering to donate, prepare, and serve the food. In addition, by establishing a relationship with the SECU Family House, we created the opportunity for future service projects that can help even more people.
PROJECTS TASKS

Page Week
10.00 hours participating in an awareness event | Respect
We worked with various government agencies to learn about the executive branch and heard from a variety of speakers. We also created and heard about different policy proposals.

Project Planning
3.00 hours leading an initiative | Compassion
As Senior Patrol Leader (highest-ranking youth leader) of my Boy Scout troop, worked to plan a dinner service for 70 people at the SECU Family House affiliated with UNC Hospitals. Planned who would bring what items via SignUpGenius, created schedule for actions to be taken and the day of the event, and coordinated volunteers.

Do the Project
5.00 hours leading an initiative | Compassion
Coordinated 15 Boy Scouts to bring food and volunteer to serve it at the SECU Family House, which provides housing and food to people with relatives at the UNC hospitals. We fed around 70 people dinner.

Project Outcomes & Reflection
1.00 hour leading an initiative | Compassion
I was successful in my project as I was able to lead an initiative through the Boy Scout troop I'm part of to feed around 70 people at the SECU Family House. I coordinated the event itself, made sure everyone was prepared to volunteer, and organized the donations/sign-ups to bring food. We met the needs of people staying at the SECU Family House and were able to feed them while helping the staff of the Family House by reducing their workload.
