SUMMARY
Reflection
Overall, I am overjoyed by the impact our project has had on the Charlotte community! The parents of the students who participated in the workshop expressed their gratitude to me and all of the volunteers involved in the project. Many of the students also said that they look forward to joining Model UN in high school and that they feel more confident with their speaking after just one week. I am confident that the work we did in one week may have planted the seed for a future of strong leaders in our community.
Project Impact
In our week of instruction, we had 24 students, 2 teachers (including me), and 5 other volunteers. Through this, we were able to raise $1,080 for the school for the blind in India, alongside an additional $100 donation that was made by one of the families whose children participated in the workshop. I have received word from the school in India that our donations will contribute toward a new classroom being built at the school for the new year.
PROJECTS TASKS

Page Week
10.00 hours volunteering | Connectedness
Spent 4 days in Raleigh as a Governors Page and met with representatives, departments, and government officials to learn about the inner workings of the state government.

Project Planning
6.00 hours leading an initiative | Connectedness
In the planning phase of my project, I created the flyer for publicity to ensure maximum participation. I also developed a curriculum for the workshop. Additionally, I got my volunteers together and had weekly 15-minute meetings with them to discuss the expectations and flow of the workshop.

Do the Project
7.50 hours leading an initiative | Curiosity
The workshop was a success! We had 20+ students participate in a week of growth, learning, and fun. We did various public speaking activities about all sorts of topics-- from superheroes to WWII, we talked about it all! Students also learned proper research techniques like citing, finding, and analyzing credible resources. The final 2 days of the workshop was set up to be a mock conference. Students were assigned countries and and debated and discussed the global impact of climate change. By the end of the week, we had 2 incredible resolutions that were unanimously passed by the committee and approved by the chair (me).

Project Outcomes & Reflection
1.00 hour leading an initiative | Connectedness
Overall, I couldn't be more satisfied with the completion of this project. We were able to grow the minds and curiosities of middle schoolers and hone in on their public speaking skills. Although we had some setbacks at times, we were able to pull it together raise hundreds of dollars for a school for the blind in India.
