SUMMARY
Reflection
This experience as a Youth Advisory Council member has been transformative. I learned the power of art as a tool for mental health advocacy and the importance of creating inclusive, youth-led spaces. Building a project from scratch required resilience, collaboration, and adaptability, whether it was navigating challenges or ensuring diverse voices were centered.
Project Impact
The #CreateConnectCare campaign engaged 100+ attendees through 5 The Healing Canvas outreach events and inspired 50+ creative submissions from youth at our school, with 60% being first-time mental health advocates.
PROJECTS TASKS
Community Outreach Project
100.00 hours leading a program | Compassion
The Healing Canvas, mental health awareness outreach project.
CreateConnectCare - Creative Activism
3.00 hours leading a program | Connectedness
The Healing Canvas, Leading this project taught me that clarity of vision, I assumed that mental health stigma would make people hesitant to share personal stories through art. Instead, I realized how deeply our community craved spaces for creative expression and submissions poured in from students
Role + Reflection
1.00 hour leading a program | Compassion
As a Mental Health Youth Advisory Council member, I was deeply invested in destigmatizing mental health through creative advocacy, especially using art to amplify youth voices. Building a project from scratch taught me to balance vision with practicality, from securing resources to collaborating across diverse teams. This role strengthened my leadership, active listening, and public speaking skills, while reminding me that even small actions can spark meaningful change
